After a long while away from the creation of new work, I am now enjoying a surge of energy and delight in the work I am producing.
Myself, my wife and a group of friends took 3 examples of the new work up to the Helena Bay Gallery, one of the best in the country we believe. They thought they were worth displaying but the problem was, we hadn't decided on a name for the series or organised new tickets, boxes or a 'story' or how where, why and what were these strange new objects.
So, with a brainstorming session over excellent food and coffee,we came up with the name 'Metamorphia'
This indicates the emergence of new work from recycled ebony enhanced variously with beef bone, brass, gold, thread, silver and other material yet to be decided upon.
I very much enjoy creating pure curves and flowing planes that segue into each other. The only straight lines on the sculpture are those I create using thin saw blades.
I believe that this series are unique in the particular utilisation of wood and bone that I employ and I hope that you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them.

Using beef bone, ebony and thread, I wanted to create objects with flowing lines that were somewhat out of the ordinary.

A nearly complete view of my bone  carving period spanning the years 1988-2003 in chronological order.
I used a number of different materials such as, ebony, thread, gold, silver, plastic tube.

These 2 are among my latest work. The one on the right is part of a design of four integrated pieces.
To be completed.

A 18ct gold  dragon bracelet made for a friend in 1986 on the left and a silver one made for my wife in the same year. The silver one one is now mounted on a wired stand with its wings permanently unfolded.
Both show them in various stages of the casting process.
